Instagram finally coming to Android

Instagram, the free photo sharing app for iPhone, is finally coming to Android platform. No release date has been provided yet, but Intagram’s CEO, Kevin Systrom said that they now have two people working on the Android version.

Instagram lets users click photos, and apply filters quickly, and lets users share these pics on twitter/Facebook easily. It lets the not so artistically inclined people share beautiful pics. This has been one of the main reasons for its popularity on the iOS platform, which currently has 50 Million users. Instagram hopes to double that number, by leveraging Android, before they think of making money.

“Obviously, we didn’t start a business to not make money, Our focus now is on growing the network. You really need to build up the network, or no advertisers care.” Kevin was quoted as saying.

But, how does Instagram plan to implement ads?  “I think the advertising experience is going to be extremely engaging, It’s much harder with text,” he said. But Instagram has brand photos, and brand names such as Audi, opined CNET. “They’re sharing pictures of products and the message of their brands. That shows we’re at the beginning of what will come with brands,” he added.

Lets see how Instagram leverages its platform, for innovative advertising.
