The producers of “3” movie are the reason torrent sites are down in India

Mahaesh Murthy, a social media behemoth, today posted on his Facebook account, making clear why torrent sites in India are down. This is what he had to say –

 It’s incredible – the film that owes most to digital video – “3” featuring #Kolaveri – has actually had the audacity to go get a court order instructing Airtel, Vodafone and other Indian ISPs to block access to digital video sites like Vimeo, DailyMotion etc in India. Here’s the court order: ( embedded below ) I say, let’s retaliate – let’s promise NEVER to see “3” and to try to make sure all your friends don’t see it too. This is one #Kolaveri we don’t need to take. #DontSee3

As is clear from the court order ( embedded below ) , the producers of the movie 3, of Kolaveri fame, got the court to order ISPs to ban sites which were pirating the movie. Since these sites are not based in India, they could not get the court to issue orders against the sites to remove the infringing content, so what they did instead is got ISPs to ban the sites altogether.

This is stupid. Idiotic. Dumb.
